ANDREIA DIAS (website - myspace - last.fm)
Style: Singer-Songwriter (rock, samba, funk)
The best tracks deliver her pretty, twisting melodies with assuredly subdued, whispery singing over jagged yet spare instrumental arrangements that skim bits of rock, reggae and funk. *** ½

(...) astonishing. If this album could be absorbed in order to become a reference, Brazilian music’s future would be brilliant.
By Marcus Preto, Rolling Stone Magazine Brazil, January. 2008
Andreia Dias is one of the most original Brazilian singer-songwriters of this generation. Her intriguing melodies and sharp lyrics make her music different from anything anyone is used to. Her live performances with her band have been captivating audiences around Brazil. Known for her part at DonaZica and Banda Glória, Andreia has just released her much awaited solo debut. Vol. 1 strikes us with 11 songs written by Andreia and has been received very positive reviews.
RICARDO HERZ (website - myspace - last.fm)
Brazilian Popular Violin (Instrumental: forró, samba, MPB)
“Ricardo Herz offers a music that is rich in emotion and is extremely happy at the same time. Brazilian music, his area of expertise, is magnificently represented by Herz’s talent and originality. He is at the same time a great composer and improviser; his potential is extraordinary”
Didier Lockwood
“Ricardo Herz, on top of his amazing musical feeling, shows on stage one of his greatest assets: his charisma!”
Hamilton de Holanda
Ricardo Herz is a 28 year old violinist from São Paulo, Brazil. Despite his young age, Herz has plenty of experience as he is classically trained and also studied jazz at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. In France, he regularly conducts work-shops on Brazilian music at Didier Lockwood’s institute, where he previously studied. Back home, in Brazil, Herz won the popular jury at Visa Prize for Brazilian Music in 2004. Since then, he has released two solo CDs (Violino Popular Brasileiro and Brasil em 3 por 4, distributed in Brazil) and has also performed with talented artists such as Yamandu Costa, Hamilton de Holanda and the forró legend Dominguinhos. Herz’s repertoire is extremely rich in top quality instrumental Brazilian, ranging from Northeastern rhythms to choro, samba and its numerous variants.
DANILO MORAES e RICARDO TETÉ (website - myspace - last.fm)
Singer-songwriters (MPB, Brazilian groove)
Dynamic duo, Danilo Moraes and Ricardo Teté, have been composing and playing together since 1997. Their work was crowned by the First Prize at the 2005 Cultura TV Festival. Contabilidade, their single was chosen by the jury as best representing the new music of Brazil. Danilo and Ricardo were handed the prize by Brazilian music legend and Minister of Culture, Gilberto Gil. A Torcida Grita, their new release, was recorded as results of their Festival accolades. Torcida Grita was recorded using a versatile formula ranging from the experimentalism of Contabilidade to the swing and groove of tunes like Teresa e a Torcida (a samba-rock) and Sempiterno (a ballad).
Success is not a new thing for the duo. In 2000, the popular forró group Rastapé covered their song Beijo Roubado and it became a countrywide hit in Brazil, selling more than half a million copies. Since then, they composed more than 30 songs together (Danilo composes the music and Ricardo writes the lyrics) and, on top of the new A Torcida Grita, they have also released, in France, an acoustic album called 51.
