Ascension - etymology suggested from Assumpção and which means to ascend, evolve, rise, improve, elevate -   is a piece of posthumous value, since its creator - Serena Assumpção, died in 2016, _cc781905 -5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_few months before the official release of the record that today reveals itself to be one of the main modern works referenced in Brazilian Afro-religious culture. 
Based on the Ilê where Serena made her initiation into Candomblé, the album reveals in a modern and sensitive way the sacred, sometimes restricted to the tours of traditional houses. Some songs are in the public domain of the popular songbook, but the pearls are compositions intuited by Serena and Gilberto Nascimento - her brother from saint. 
 
The album has more than forty participations.
In the cast, his sister Anelis Assumpção, DiPa, Pipo Pegoraro, Metá Metá, Céu, Tulipa Ruiz, Letieres Leite, Filipe Catto, Karina Buhr, Moreno Veloso, Tetê Espíndola, among others.
 
Produced by Serena and co-produced by DiPa and Pipo Pegoraro between 2009 and 2016, the album that was released by Selo Sesc in CD and digital versions, now receives its well-deserved vinyl pressing.
